If I could give you one gift it would be to see yourself through my eyes and then you would see how special you really are.

Child 3's quote of the day

I'm not GRUMPY I'm Sleepy! Where is Happy I wonder, may show an appearance in the morning I hope!!!

A seven year olds tale of morality

Had a lovely day out with child number 3 yesterday, probably because it was all about her. Build a Bear, a new dress and sandals and a Happy Meal. But, I just have to share two stories.
Firstly, driving into Bath we saw an amazing rainbow and did you know, that if someone stole the gold from the end of the rainbow all the colours would disappear and the world would be all grey!!!!!! Child number 3was very very worried that someone would steal the gold because so many people are greedy and want lots of money. There must be a moral there somewhere.
Secondly, we were talking about number 4 arriving and whether it would be a boy or a girl, I suggested maybe getting one of each, number 3  looked at me in horror "No way!!!" Her brow furrowed slightly and she continued "Just one to start then in about", she then proceeded to count on her fingers to work out the difference in age between herself and the potential number 4 (we are aiming for a 3 year old) 4 years we can have another!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salt of the Earth

As part of the health and safety check the social services carry out to ensure that our house is safe and suitable for a young child (I know we already have 3 children whom have grown up very safely here) we have had to have the boiler serviced. So I called in our local, friendly tradesman man who in the way of local friendly chaps eventually turned up about 3 weeks from when first promised. After initial hellos and embarrassment about the amount of dust around our boiler, in my defence it's a built in unit, I explained about our adoption plans. This lovely mans man had tears in his eyes he couldn't believe that after having 3 birth children we would want to take in someone else's child rather than giving birth to number 4, that we were doing this because we wanted to not because we had too.I actually felt humbled in his eyes, that we as a family could bring this man to tears because we want another child and want to take one from the system rather than create one. I can only hope we are good enough!?!

THE BLURB. As explained by our 7 year old, the bit that tells you a little bit about the story

Good evening , 45 minutes on attempting to add my first post, my 14 year old daughter saved me from a tantrum and showed me how to post on a blog (embarrassing but true) doesn't really bode well for the future as a blogger!!!!!

Thought I ought to introduce myself and my family and the reasons for the blog.
I am an over 40 year old mum, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, job share, school governor, catholic, friend, feminist yet still a home maker and many other personalities too and this blog is not about my tendency towards possible schizophrenia but about my family's journey, which now includes the world of adoption. I have a lovely husband, 3 children who, to keep them anonymous am thinking of calling  Child 1,2 & 3 like Thing 1 & 2 in the Dr Seuss books The Cat in The Hat. So Child 1 is our beautiful 14 year old daughter, child 2 is a gorgeous 12 year old boy and child 3 is well..........child number 3, you will understand when you read her quote of the day!! Also in the mix we have a springer spaniel, 2 cats and 5 chickens.

About a year ago we decided to add another to our family and felt that adoption was the way forward, so now after meetings, courses and social worker visits we are preparing to sit before the panel and pray that we are good enough. So this is our story, I have understandably set this up as anonymous so if any of you read this and know exactly who we are please don't say as it is imperative that our children (all of them) are protected. Thanks I hope you enjoy it.
